Rebellion!

Sherry's challenge is at  Bits of Cheer - make a card for a child using paper piecing.
One of my favorite cards to make are cards for kids.  I don't do a lot of paper piecing, but this particular stamp looked like it would be perfect for it.  And, I think it turned out a lot better than if I had just colored the clothing.

Carol, my neighbor, 20 miles to the South, decided we need to use something we've been hoarding............well, I hate to admit it.....I've been hoarding pink poodle brads.   Yes, it's awful, I know.  And I'm so embarrassed.  But look, Carol, I did  it!  And I used three, count 'em three! 

 

Lisa, at Stamping With A Mission, has asked for cards with food as the focus.  I don't know about you, but I always have olives in my fridge.

Yvonne at Penguin Papers is being rebellious by asking for cards using bright colors.  I guess this is her answer to the April Fool's day request for brown cards.  (Which I fell for, by the way......)

I threw away two kites before I managed to get one that I was happy with.  Who would think a simple looking kite could be such a problem?

This next challenge threw me for a loop, "use any five elements".  I ended up with this.

Buttons, twine, patterned paper, stamp and sentiment.  I'm not sure why I pulled out Christmas stuff, but the paper was awesome and so I used it for the next challenge too, which was to use a die cut.

Yeah, I know, more Christmas.....But maybe I'll be ready this year!
Next on the list was Sketch 120, where I also used a piece of paper that I've been hoarding.

Here's my blue and gray card for Allison.. (I'm partial to the Navy.)

OWH - Sketch 118

I used a new stamp that I purchased last weekend at the Heirloom Rubber Stamp Show.  It's from Nellies-Choice.  I  don't usually go for cutsie stuff, but as soon as I saw this stamp, I knew I wasn't going to walk away without it.  Must be my love of frogs.....

The plan this week is to use this sketch for at least another 6 cards.  I know I have a lot of larger stamps, so it
should work out well...

Operation Write Home - Stars & Stamps Blog - Sketch 115

Finally!  I can play along with the weekly sketches.  I made it my obsession at the start of 2012 to go through all the sketches and make one card, and to not stop until I was finished.  Let me tell you, by the time I had only a dozen or so sketches left to do, my work got sloppy and I was mostly just focused on being done.  So I'm not all that happy with the last few cards, but I'm overjoyed to be done and to be able to play along on a Sunday again.  Here's my first attempt at this week's sketch.  I had several Snoopy's already colored, so I consider this a slight cheat.  But I don't care!

My second attempt was because I'm short one Easter card to send out this week.  This was easy because I used more of the bunnies on steroids paper (per Dixie).

By this time, I had decided that I really like this sketch, since the size of the main image seems to fit so many of my favorite stamps.  I also had just listened to Sandy's Two Things and a Rant and so I grabbed some brown stuff.  Does this card seem brown enough?  What do they really want when they ask for brown cards?????

 My last card (so far!) is for my nephew, who is going to be having a birthday soon.  I doubt if he even knows this blog is in existence, so I'm not really worried.  But, just in case -

He's going to be a famous drummer one day.  Hopefully with Metallica or 30 Seconds to Mars or one of my other favs (so I can get into concerts for free, of course.........).   ~Nancy F.

A few more weeks and I'll be done

I finally got smart and am making multiples, so that I can get the box filled for Operation Write Home sooner.  I usually have a full one (approx. 90 cards) ready by the last week of each month.  I was so overdue last time.  Can't let that happen again.

Yes, I'm still working away at it, and I can hardly wait until I'm done.  It's starting to drag.......lol  These are 74 through 77.  I'm still having a great time playing with all the Stampin' Up stuff from Kim.  I wish she had a blog so you could see her work....hint, hint, Kim......

78-81 - Love the butterfly paper from a K & Co. tablet, but now, I've used it all up.  The above cards were made during the workweek.  I usually do a little planning, cutting, pasting before or after work, but rarely have enough time to actually sit and make a whole card or two.

The rest of the cards were made inbetween coughing and nose blowing - yuk!  It's going to be one of THOSE weekends.......but at least it hasn't put a dent in production.

Two posts in one weekend...who'd-a thunk?

Paved my way right through 68, 69 and 70.

Then I kept on going and plowed through to 73.  All on Saturday.

Sunday, my sister came over we managed to spend three hours on this........................

Yes, three hours.  How is that possible?????? ............... So then we realized we were supposed to be making cards,and somehow it took us another 40 minutes to get these done.

This is not going to get my monthly box filled for Caro!  But it was nice spending time with my sister.

Clean and Simple........I just can't do it

This week's challenge was to make clean and simple cards.  Try as a might, I just can't do it.  I looked at the other cards on the blog hop, they were all gorgeous.  When I try to recreate something with my things, ack.  They just don't come out right.  This is what I ended up with.  And since they didn't really come out clean and simple, we're dedicating them to our friend, Buster, who has a marvelous blog that we (Ozzy and I) love to follow.  Thanks, Buster!   ~Nancy F.

Sketch 105 - Take Two and One Notch Up

We were encouraged to kick it up a notch this week.  I liked the previously posted card, but realized I just used the Snoopy and snowman a few week's ago. So here's my take on Sketch 105.  I used some old stickers that came from Big Lots a few years ago and paper from a Momenta tablet and tried to put my own spin on it.

Not much to tell about this one.  I used a Snoopy stamp and a Cuttlebug emobssing folder and got rid of 3 strips of scrap paper.  Easy and quick!  No snowman here though, the stuff is too light and fluffy.  ~Nancy F.

More Resolutions

An entire weekend, almost gone, and all I got done of my resolution challenge are these 4 cards.  #33 through 36.  More resolutions - do better next weekend!!!   ~Nancy F.

A New Year's Resolution

Over the holidays, I decided to make it my mission to go through all the weekly sketches at Operation Write Home, and make a card for each one of them, and I noticed a lot of other OWH'rs are doing the same thing.  I've been enjoying the Sunday Sketch Challenge for quite some time, but I knew I didn't get in on it right from the start, so what better time to get a move on?

Then, last week, the most amazing thing happened.  I was given 2 boxes of stamps......  Two....whole.....boxes.......AWESOME.......... I am having THE BEST TIME!!!! (yes, I'm shouting...and thank you, Kim!)

So.  I've made it through #32.  More to come later!   ~Nancy F.
