Shaving Cream!

 

I tackled the shaving cream effect!  I was afraid that it was going to be messy, especially after reading all the blog posts about it, but I didn't find it messy at all.  I only used one paper plate, and about 20 paper towels.  I used the plate from my Big Kick to scrap the shaving cream off the paper and I used food coloring because I don't have any colored ink refills for my stamp pads.  I was really happy with the results and I'll probably do it again, after I get some other colors.  I only had red, blue and green leftover from dying Easter eggs long ago.   The most surprising thing for me was how fast the paper dried.  I did have to put it under a heavy book for the night to flatten it out though.  Definitely a worthwhile project to try!   ~Nancy

Reverse Stencil

For these cards I used stencils and my blending brushes.  I was a little leery on how messy it would be, but it wasn't and I was quite surprised that I liked using the technique when I was done.   The next technique I'm going to try uses shaving cream - that one MUST be messy!  lol   ~Nancy

 

Blending Brushes

 Blending brushes are so cool.  I got a few at the Dollar Tree and loved them so much that I sent away for a small, inexpensive set.  I'm really enjoying them.  I've always had trouble with backgrounds and mostly used chalks but these brushes are a lot of fun and I've never had a fail playing with them yet.  I used a new set of Gina K. stamps for this one.

July Fun

I'm still stuck on Gina K. videos and playing with backgrounds and brushes.  I am in the Halloween mood today and had so much fun making these that I went way overboard.

Slimline Again

Back to a few more slimline cards.  I had the mats lying around, I purchased them at a show many, many years ago and it was time to use them up.  I'm still not a big fan of anything that's not an A2 size.  I probably won't be making many more of the slimline cards.

Backgrounds

I'm terrible with backgrounds.  I've been using brushes that came from the dollar store in the makeup section and I've been pretty happy with the results.  I might even invest in some regular brushes because they're so much bigger and look like they'll put down even smoother color.

"New" Slimline Cards

I remember making these way back in the 80's.  Now they're new and called Slimline.

These were also inspired by watching Gina K. videos.  I was going through a spell where I really had lost my mojo, but watching her videos has really snapped me out of it!

Long time......

It's been quite a long time since we've posted.  I thought it was about time I did something about that.
I've been stuck on Gina K. designs for a few months.  She's quite talented and comes up with such fantastic ideas to get me back in the craft room.  These are my results from her wreath making videos.

This was my first attempt.  I loved it and couldn't stop. 

Most of her examples were beautiful wreaths with flowers or leaves.  Well, that's not my style.  LOL

This one took a while.  Those little men are from Picture Show, I love their stamps.  I first saw them at an Heirloom Show many, many years ago.  I have a notebook full of their stuff.  I think they still sell on Etsy.

I finished up with some gnomes.  These are all made with a stamping platform.  The gnome was a wood mounted stamp, but it peeled right off the wood, maybe due to the heat and humidity in my craft room.  Anyway, it worked out well. 

So for now, I'm stuck on Gina K. videos......  It's a good thing.

Stuck by Prickley Pear

I'm still stuck on using the Four Seasons set of clear stamps by Prickley Pear.  This time I put the little scene behind a window die.

Leaves, leaves, leaves

I'm having a lot of fun with this tree set from Prickley Pear.   This card was super fast and looks like it wasn't!

Buggy Ride

There's some beautiful fall weather out there today - perfect for a buggy ride.  Not that I'm going anywhere today.... and not that I have a buggy to ride in..... lol

Feeling Devilish

I've had this stamp for several years, but when making cards for OWH, I could never use it.  Finally, I'm digging into all those OWH inappropriate stamps.....I must have a box full!  lol

Cheating

Cheating this week - I found some pieces in "the drawer" and slapped this one together.  Hoping I do a better job next week.....

Looks like fall is here

Fall is in the air and I can't wait for it to warm up a little bit.  Not a lot, just a little bit.  I'm still working 6 days a week, so I'm cheating and finding my ideas on Pinterest.  This is another one of those.  I had this cute little tree stamp, which I've never used.   I think this worked out perfectly, and it was fast.

It's been a busy weekend and so I needed to make something fast.  I found this design on Pinterest and thought it was cute.  The original had googlie eyes, which made it extra cute, but I didn't want the extra bulk since these will go overseas for the military to mail home.  I also had a lot of trouble with my white pen, and
couldn't make a few bubbles in the water.  Does anyone have a good suggestion of a quality white pen?  I need one that isn't dried up every time I try to use it.

I ended up running over to the store and picking up a cheap, white pen.  Then I altered my fishes and made them a little bigger.  I'm happier with the bigger fish.  lol

A normal schedule

Now that I'm not involved with Operation Write Home anymore, I'm back on a regular schedule.   No more making Halloween cards during the summer - I'm actually making them in September!  I really didn't mind the crazy OWH schedule, but it is easier to get  motivated when it's closer to the actual holiday for which you are making cards.  At least it is for me!

These are pocket cards and I used my ancient Coluzzle to make them.  I'm never getting rid of that thing!

I also went to a paper craft day at a friend's house and made about a dozen military themed cards for Veterans' Day.  I mailed them off without taking any photos.....  :-(   Over zealous again........  :-)

Gnomes and such

There wasn't a lot of time this week for card making, but I'm trying very hard to make a post each week, and

to at least make one card no matter what.  I already had this little gnome and birch trees stamped out, (it's two stamps combined) so a quick coloring with the markers and some embossed clouds made it quick and easy.  Here's hoping this next week is a lot less hectic!

Triple Stamping

I'm not a fan of the blue/yellow cards, but I liked the brown version so much that I made several more.

Stencils

I saw a photo in a magazine that used leaf punches.  Somehow, I was inspired, but ended up using stencils.
I had tucked them away and intended to get rid of them.  I think I'll keep them now.

These are from one of those packs of paper I bought, which I should have left in the store.  Too many like pages to deal with!  It'll be years before I can use it all up. 

Halloween Already????

It seems like all the stores are ready for Halloween, so I decided to get on the bandwagon.

This is a Prickley Pear stamp that I bought several years ago at a show.  I can finally use glitter embossing powder, since these are not going to the Heroes.  Also, good news, I sent off a pack of cards to the Oregon Coast Avid Stampers and got a nice reply!  I'm so glad to be able to continue making cards for the troops!
